Whitney E. Lee Moeller

Whitney Lee Moeller serves as an adjunct professor of voice at the University of Tulsa for the Department of Theatre, where she gives individual instruction to approximately 8-11 university students per semester.

Whitney holds a master’s degree from the University of Central Missouri in music education with an emphasis in conducting as well as a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma City University in music education with dual emphasis in vocal and instrumental music. Her teaching certification for the state of Oklahoma is in both vocal and instrumental music K-12.

 

At the undergraduate level, Whitney split her time equally between study of voice and horn in f. Today she focuses most of her energy on vocal music. Playing piano since the age of 5, she uses her piano skills on a daily basis as a voice teacher and also enjoys teaching piano lessons to beginners. She maintains an active private music studio of piano and voice students.

Ms. Moeller has been teaching in the public school system since January of 2013 and has served as a director of secondary choirs for Mannford Public Schools, Sequoyah Middle School in Broken Arrow, and Union Public Schools. Her research, entitled "Open Your Mouth: Addressing the Inhibitions of Adolescent Singers Through Child Psychology in Vocal Music Education," was a qualitative study under the supervision of Dr. Alan Zabriskie at the University of Central Missouri. She is currently pursuing research in the area of working with transgender singers and hopes to pursue a PhD in the future.
